Will Smith is doing a Nigerian accent in the new “Concussions” trailer

Based on a true story, Will Smith will play Nigerian doctor ‘Dr. Bennet Omalu’  who goes up against the NFL(National Football League)  after discovering a football related trauma which affects the players brains. In other words, he realized repetitive concussions were making the players crazy enough to kill themselves. Watch the trailer below:

Concussions is a typical David vs Goliath story; Dr Omalu knew very little about American football before he began his research although he effectively went to war against a corporation who “own a day of the week” (the NFL).

Everything about this movie screams OSCAR BAIT — we have Will Smith doing an accent, an emotionally riveting true story and a December release. It is perfectly positioned for awards season so there’s a strong chance we will see the film earn some awards nominations.

Directed by Peter Landesman, Concussions is based on the GQ magazine article Game Brain by Jeanne Marie Laskas and also stars Albert Brooks,  Alec Baldwin, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Paul Reiser and Luke Wilson.

The film is set for release on December 25th 2015, Christmas Day. For more oscar bait movies watch the trailer for The Danish Girl
